Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is an American fast-food chain that specializes in chicken fingers made with white meat tenderloin which are then fried in a trans fat-free blend of soybean and canola oil. There are even options for vegans and vegetarians.

Founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey, there are a number of interesting facts about this company, which was named, in fact, after Todd Graves’ dog. The idea for Raising Cane actually came from a college assignment that received a poor grade.

At the chain, store managers are the only ones who know what’s in their famous sauce so don’t bother to ask because they will not tell you. The restaurant is known for catering to a variety of customer tastes, making it easy to customize orders.

Though it was founded almost 30 years ago, it recently gained more popularity thanks to social media platforms, fan reviews, and an overall positive promotion from employees.

Raising Canes opened its first Miami location in South Beach where it has received all kinds of feedback, both good and bad from some of the haters indicating it is not worth trying.

This past week I visited to decide if it lived up to its praise or its detractors.

The restaurant itself is very colorful, for instance, featuring rainbows. It serves as the perfect place to go with friends or family.

Ordering was super easy, taking  about 10-15 minutes from the moment I requested my food to the point of delivery. The cost is around $8 per meal which may be pricey for some on a tight budget. Taco Bell or McDonalds could be considered more affordable in the fast-food realm. Still, Raising Canes’ prices are very reasonable.

The most important part of the dining experience was worth the short wait as the food is delicious. To begin with, the chicken fingers taste homemade, generally crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Even better were the  crinkly French fries served in a just-the-right-amount portion.

If you are looking for “One Dream, One Love,” their chain’s motto, you will definitely find it at Raising Canes.
