The inside scoop on “Hello, Banquet!”
November 5, 2019
On Friday, November 8th from 7 pm to 10 pm, the ILS Drama Club will be hosting their second annual banquet, “Hello, Banquet,” in the Bayshore Ballroom to help raise funds for their upcoming production of “Hello, Dolly!”
The banquet has been organized primarily by drama club treasurer, Giorgio Fernandez, and drama club moderator, Ms. Rodriguez. Throughout the evening, there will be many never before seen performances put on by ILS’s very own drama students.
There will also be a steak dinner included in the entry price. It is $15 for children, $20 for ILS students, and $25 for any other adults who’d like to attend.
“We are so excited for this event! We were really looking for something in which all of our Drama Club members could participate and show off their talents – whatever they may be! It’s also a great event for students at ILS and parents alike,” said Ms. Rodriguez.
“It’s a fun night of delicious food, entertainment, and coming together as a community. This year, we will also be serving Brazilian steak, thanks to generous donations by the Barreto family!”
Last year’s event was a huge success, and this year’s is supposed to be even better.
“We took all that we learned from the first event and have been working towards improving this one! Shout out to Giorgio Fernandez – a senior this year who has organized this event every year since its conception,” said Ms. Rodriguez. “He is doing everything to make sure our banquet is a success!”
Many people are extremely excited for this event, but no one is more excited than Giorgio Fernandez.
“This event is kind of like my child in the sense that I developed the idea and then I was the first person to execute it,” said Fernandez.
Even students who aren’t apart of drama club are super excited to see what this event will have in store.
“I am so excited to attend the banquet and see all that they have been working so hard on! I’m happy to support the school drama club and can’t wait to see the performances,” said ILS junior Paola Rodriguez.
There are lots of surprises in store for the audience. Although they can’t announce much, both Fernandez and Rodriguez have given a couple hints at some of the secrets that will be revealed at the event.
“I’m really excited for the people who are hosting this year. They’re eccentric, they’re amazing, and they’re going to do such an incredible job with it,” said Fernandez.
“There will be a Thespians showcase for those students competing with their dramatic events at this year’s District competition, performances by members of Drama Club throughout the night, a fast-paced sketch comedy show written and performed by club members, and maybe one more preview surprise,” said Ms. Rodriguez. “I’ll give you a hint: Our event is called Hello, Banquet for a reason!”
