Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts are America’s two biggest breakast and coffee chains. Both offer a diverse line of coffee drinks, snacks, and meals. But, which is better? In terms of pricing, Dunkin’ Donuts is usually cheaper than Starbucks. At Dunkin’ an average medium coffee costs $1.89 whereas at Starbucks an average grande coffee costs $3.65. (fastfoodmenuprices.com) Sophomore Sofia Dean prefers Starbucks because of the welcoming and inviting atmosphere.

“I feel like Starbucks has a comforting and cozy environment because it has cute little tables and couches while Dunkin’ does not,” she explained.

Starbucks theme colors are green and white which invoke a mood of freshness and simplicity. Dunkin’s theme colors are pink and orange which give off an affectionate and adventurous vibe.

“The colors are also more relaxing at Starbucks and are not as vibrant and neon as Dunkin’,” Sofia added.

One product that Dunkin’ has that Starbucks does not is donuts. Donuts are a key factor in Dunkin’s marketing as it is in their logo and name. Sophomore Gabriela Fuentes asserts that Dunkin’ is better than Starbucks because of their donuts.

“I prefer Dunkin’ because my favorite donut is the original glazed. I like how it’s sweet but not too sugary and it also pairs well with a vanilla iced coffee,” she said.

Regardless of preference, if you like Starbucks more, you’re in luck because Starbucks has more stores than Dunkin’ Donuts. With approximately 16,000 stores in the U.S. alone, Dunkin, on the other hand, has only 9,000 venues. (scrapehero.com) For junior Ava von Teuber, the location of her nearby Starbucks plays an important role in her after school activities.

“I like to go to the Starbucks near my house after school. Since it’s nearby, I visit it more often and it has become like a tradition for my sister and I to go to after our volleyball practices,” Ava said.

Whether you are a Starbucks stan, or a die-hard Dunkin’ fan, you can caffeinate all day in the 39 Dunkin’ and 50 Starbucks locations found in Miami.
