Florida’s Unique Fall Fashion Frenzy

Embracing Cool Days in the Sunshine State

Trending despite the 90 degree Miami weather, fashionistas love the cable knit look.

Florida, the state of eternal sunshine, is notorious for having just one season: summer! But hold onto your hats, Royals, because even in the Sunshine State, fashionistas are gearing up for the most ‘chill’ season of them all – fall! And when I say ‘chill,’ I mean it in the Floridian sense of the word, where anything below 90 degrees is practically sweater weather.

Don’t despair, Royals. Did you notice a slight dip in the weather once we hit September 21, the first official day of fall? Yeah, it was probably wishful thinking; I know.

Still, I bravely took the challenge to ask students and even the Dean of Students what they’re looking forward to wearing when the temperature drops to the mild 90s. Senior Greta Mola, confessed her dreams of wearing leather, sweaters, and boots.

“Miami’s heat made me crave for those moments when I could finally rock these pieces.”

Meanwhile, senior Stefano Giguovaz proudly proclaimed his firm commitment to wearing knitted sweaters and cargos throughout the ‘fall’ season, which in Florida, might last approximately two days. He’s hoping to spot more colorful graphic tees and knitted sweaters. He claims the sneaker of the season will definitely be Doc Martins.

I’m absolutely convinced that Doc Martens will be the must-have footwear this fall.

But wait, there’s more! Mr. James Rydborn, the iconic fashionista of ILS, is practically doing a dance of excitement for the return of ‘tims’ (Timberland boots, we assume) this fall. When I asked about his fall fashion lineup, he said with an air of seriousness:

“If the weather drops, I’m hoping to unleash my Sherpa-lined trucker jackets.”

Clearly, this Floridian fashion guru has been waiting all year to let those layers shine. He also hopes for neutral colors, and just when you thought the Royal family couldn’t get any more enthusiastic about ‘fall,’ Mr. Rydborn is counting down the days until the Holiday Jordan Collection drops, probably while simultaneously handing out demerits.
