Last week, Immaculata-La Salle high school’s boys varsity soccer team played two preseason games, one against Miami Jackson and one versus Coral Shores, in an effort to prepare for the upcoming season.

Although they suffered a loss 0-1 in their first game to Miami Jackson, they came back stronger and motivated the next day. The Royal Lions defeated Coral Shores 5-1 on Thursday November 7th.

Freshman Zidane Laird scored two goals, while senior Kamini Turner, freshman Santiago Sanchez and sophomore Dylan Batalha each scored one goal.

Athletic Director Nick Fernandez feels extremely optimistic regarding the boys’ performance this season.

“We definitely have the hopes that they could hopefully win their district and have an opportunity to make another run again, and the goal is always to get that district title to obtain an opportunity to make it to the state championship,” said Coach Fernandez.

Junior Sebastian Giugovaz believes him and his teammates worked really well together to meet their goal.

“I feel that we played a good match the second game,” said Giugovaz. “We started communicating more and adapted to the style of play coach wanted us to execute.”

The team starts its season this week with a big Thursday night showdown with rival MAST Academy held at Immaculata-La Salle High School.
