ILS Sports Teams are on a Roll

Cross Country: The ILS Cross Country team competed at the Larry Wooten 5k Invitational at Larry & Penny Thompson Park. The Boys finished 13th out of 30 participating teams. They were led by Senior Emmanuel Roca who finished runner up with a time of 17:07. (2nd out of 238 runners) and sophomore Daniel Brito (45th out of 238) who ran a season best 19:36.8 time.

The Girls finished 14th out of 19 participating teams. They were led by juniors, Arianna Armas who finished with a time of 24:06, (30th out of 165 runners) and Juliette Egea who ran a 19:36.8 (79th out of 165).  The Running Royals are looking forward to finishing out the last races of the season strong before their District Championship race November 1st at Larry & Penny Thompson Park

Volleyball: Girls JV Volleyball played at the Florida Christian JV tournament. They played some tough competition, but showed incredible fight and heart multiple times coming back from 9-point deficits. Each match could have gone either way.

Some key performers during the tournament were Krystal Inhoof who had over 15 blocks all weekend. Alex Gonzalez who had multiple digs and kills. Both setters, Sofia Rosales and Carlota Haliwa, led the offensive effort with assists as did Gaby Von Tuber who captained the defense exceptionally.

Swimming:  The swimming team dominated at a head-to-head with Miami Country Day this week as they prepared for districts. Below are the individual results for the meet.

Rachel Larralde: 200 free – 1st place & 500 free – 1st place

Emma Larralde: 200 IM – 1st place & 100 fly – 2nd place

Kristen Bachmann: 50 free – 1st place & 100 free – 1st place

Lucas Franchak : 200 free – 1st place & 100 fly – 1st place

Mathias Alvarado: 50 free – 1st place & 100 free – 1st place

Lucas Young: 200 IM – 1st place  & 100 breast – 1st place

Klaus Bachmann: 50 free – 3rd place & 100 breast – 2nd place

200 free relay & 400 free relay – 1st place: Lucas Young, Lucas Franchak, Mathias Alvarado, Klaus Bachmann

Golf: The Golf Team continues its climb as they play one of their best matches of the season.  They shot a combined team season low vs a good Mast Academy team. Pablo Carpenter shot a season best 46. Gonzalo Eulate shot a 48. Hector Pires and Jeremy Agresti each shot 50.

Football: Royal Lion Football team won an overtime thriller at Westminster Christian 21-20. The team had to overcome multiple penalties including two touchdowns being called back in the game, but still found a way to get the win. Leading the offense was leading rusher Santiago Robles with another game going over 100 yards with 103 and 2 touchdowns. Stetson Angelo went 14/22 with 190 yards and a touchdown. They had multiple receivers with good games including Joel Salien with a touchdown on 4 catches for 51 yards. Alan Schael had 5 catches for 65 yards while Tyrone Williams III had 2 catches for 55 yards.

Defensively they forced 2 turnovers in the game with Tyrone and Terrance Jones each with an interception. Leading tackler in the game was Adryan Mendoze with 6 total tackles followed by Jaden John with 5 tackles and Tavarus Hones and Philip Jones each with 4 tackles.
