The music industry has sky rocketed in 2023 with 95.6% of Americans 13 or older experiencing some form of audio in their daily lives, which amounts to 270 million people listening daily.
In a world of audio options, which platform is better, Spotify or Apple Music?
Spotify currently has over 515 million users and 210 million Premium subscribers worldwide. Spotify offers a free tier option as well as a popular music-sharing experience. Apple Music was once the leader in all things digital music, but is currently behind Spotify with more than 98 million users worldwide.
Senior Rebecca Baldelomar has been a Spotify user for years.
“I like Spotify, but I have Spotify Premium. It’s easier to log in through any device and I like the unlimited skips. I have access to other people’s playlists by just following them, compared to Apple Music which I would have to ask them to forward it to me” she explained.
Things that Spotify has to offer
- Spotify playlists are global
- Spotify playlists are curated
- Spotify playlists are personalized
- Spotify playlists are driven by fans and artists
- Spotify playlists are timeless
Junior Annette Labrada has a big family and shares music with them.
“I like it because the family plan is bit cheaper than Apple Music and for me it has more to offer. It’s also easier for me to find music on Spotify. I can search up the lyrics and find the song easily,” she said.
Spotify Premium lets users do more than skip songs.
Additionally, Premium users have unlimited song skips and can enjoy listening to their favorite music without the interruption of ads. Another feature Premium users have is that they can download and save their songs for offline use at any time.
Sophomore Regina Ordorica, on the other hand, is a bigger fan of Apple Music.
“ I like Spotify, but I prefer Apple Music because as soon as you have an account, you can automatically listen to music without having any ads. I also like how it has more option for songs,” she said.
Things that Apple Music has to offer
- 100 million songs and more than 30,000 expert-curated playlists.
- Request any track, album, playlist, or station simply by asking Siri or with Type to Siri.

So, with all these options, which would you choose?
