At ILS there are many people from Hispanic backgrounds who seek comforting reminders of their homeland by sampling favorites at at number of popular eateries which remind them home. There are so many options to choose from that it is hard to narrow them down. Still, after extensive research, it is possible to select a few signature places. Starting with Venezuelan food there’s Edukos Beer House with some arepas that look drool worthy. Of course, this doesn’t mean there aren’t other restaurant that people might like better.
“My favorite Latin restaurant in Miami is Budare Bistro because I think their arepas are really yummy and I like the vibe,” said senior Andrea De Armas.
Then, there’s Mexican food which unlike some would like to believe doesn’t just consist of tacos. The highest ranked Mexican restaurant in Miami is The Taco Stand. This restaurant is located in Wynwood and is known for their good carne asada and fish tacos. There’s also Taco Chido which has been proven to be a local favorite.
Next, drum roll please… There’s Argentinian food! There is a good variety of Argentinian restaurants. Yet, there are some more popular than others like Novecentos, Baires Grill, and more.
“Baires it’s an Argentinian restaurant that’s has multiple locations. I like it because it’s good quality and they have good portions. The usual thing I get it is ‘asado,’” said senior Andrea Celada.
Lastly, another popular one: Spanish food! First, there’s Leku if you want a taste of Spain’s Basque Country. From paellas, croquetas, to beef tartare, it’s a wide-ranging menu. Then, a more rustic one is Casa Juancho one that’s considered an OG in Miami because it has attracted residents for years. It’s known for their live music, zesty flavors, and freshly baked pastries. Finally, the hidden gem (and a personal favorite) is El Carajo International Tapas & Wines. This restaurant is quite literally hidden behind a gas station. There’s a variety of food including the tapas. It might be in the back of a gas station, but it looks like a beautiful restaurant inside. The ambiance it offers makess diners forget about deciding between super and regular unleaded. It has also been visited by the famous brotherly band the Jonas Brothers who loved it.
“Islas Canarias because the croquetas from there are the best croquetas I’ve ever had and the portions are really worth it. It’s also affordable with very reasonable prices,” said Spanish teacher Ms. Yuliet Vega when asked what her favorite Latin restaurant is..
There are many more to choose from but these are the ones that have the highest ratings. Hopefully, this satisfies everyone’s sweet and salty Hispanic teeth.
