ILS Varsity Soccer team falls short against American Heritage 2-1

ILS boys soccer dropped a tough game to American Heritage 2-1.

The ILS varsity soccer team suffered a close loss against American Heritage, losing 2-1 on Monday.

In the first half of the game Heritage scored both of their goals. They scored their first goal off of a header from a throw in.

Very early in the game one of the players for American Heritage was ejected for spitting on one of our ILS players. As a result Heritage had to play down one man for the rest of the game.

Unfortunately, ILS was not able to capitalize with their advantage.

In the second half, Heritage took a different approach focusing more on playing defense.

Senior Kamani Turner scored ILS’s only goal with 10 minutes remaining in the game.

Throughout the game ILS’s young teams inexperience showed by the decisions they made. They didn’t make the cleanest passes and occasionally tried to pop the ball over defenders heads and try to out run them. They should have been more patient with the ball to grant better scoring opportunities.

Nevertheless, it is still a good sign that ILS was able to stay in the game and the future is very bright for this young team. They can only get better from here and there isn’t any ceiling in sight.

ILS plays their next game at home against Ransom Everglades on Tuesday next week.
