Sabrina Carpenter’s new album Short n’ Sweet, made its release on August 23, 2024. The album reached over 57 million streams the day of its release on the global Spotify chart. The album shares her growth as a person, addressing stories of her past relationships.
“The album is very good and catchy,” said sophomore Isabella Sanchez.
The album is a take on pop and indie music with thoughtful lyrics that connect to many of Carpenter’s fans. The album’s new and most featured song “Taste” is third on Spotify Today’s Top Hits. The song shares the story of her ex boyfriend. Although the relationship was never confirmed, fans formed theories based on paparazzi photos taken last year in March of 2023. Not until very recently the rumors were shockingly confirmed by her song “Taste.”
Not everyone at ILS is a fan, however.
“Some songs are good and some aren’t,” shared sophomore Madison Baker.
The “Taste” music video made headlines, featuring actress, Jenna Ortega, with 55 million views. Many fans were surprised and enjoyed the duos unexpected collaboration. Carpenter’s popularity has gained over the past few months by thousands with her summer hit singles “Please Please Please” and “Espresso.” Both singles are also featured on the new album. The songs are still on Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits till-this-day. As mentioned, not all people are big fans of Carpenter’s music and think she’s already had her “5 seconds of fame” with her summer singles that were quoted “The song of the summer” by many.
“Her music is iconic, and her music hypes me up;” said sophomore Greer Anderson Westmeyer.
Despite that opinion, this is not the case because Carpenter’s popularity has grown immensely after the album dropped. She has reintroduced pop back into fans’ lives and will continue to do so in the future.
