The Club Fair is a place filled with potential interests, and offers students an opportunity to explore a wide range of activities. There are 28 clubs and 17 honor societies, from sport clubs, service clubs, academic clubs, and clubs in the arts. At ILS, there is always something for everyone. You like singing? Glee Club is there for you. Care for the earth? Join Environmental club.
By trying out different clubs, you might learn about new hobbies, undiscovered passions, hidden talents, and getting involved in your community. Try stepping out of your comfort zone, and you could possibly find a life-long interest.
”I think that the Club Fair is a great opportunity for new and transfer students to see what ILS has to offer,” said senior Angelina Wiltz.
Additionally, clubs provide opportunities to work with other students and faculty. Embarking on a new experience by joining a club you may not be familiar with can lead to new friendships, developing leadership skills, mentorship opportunities, and learning how to work with others. Club participation can help students build positive skills that they will need not only for high school, but for their future as well.
”I think it is very good to get to know who is in charge of clubs for networking purposes,” said senior Isabelle Silva.
Not only does club participation help build your skills, but it also could boost your college application prospects, especially if the club is related to a career path. For instance, one big club people participate in to expand on their career interest is HOSA. It’s a medical club offering hands on experience to students interested in healthcare.
”The Club Fair gave me a lot of necessary information about clubs that would be otherwise hard to find or know much about,” said senior Julien Benedit.
Ultimately, Club Fair serves as an opportunity for students to build new friendships, grow in their skills, build their college resume, and develop their career interests.
