All Royals can agree that receiving their annual yearbook is one of the many moments they look forward to during the school year. It’s a time to look back on all their achievements and the legacy they’ve built during their time here at ILS.
The theme for last year’s yearbook that students received this past Thursday was “The Adventure Awaits”. This theme is all about inviting others to share the abundance of God‘s love and grace. It was well developed in the yearbook as several moments were highlighted showing students bonding with others while growing in their faith. Moments like ETC, Homecoming Week, and Senior Freshmen Day.
The yearbook serves more than just a reminder of students achievements and moments of fun. It’s also a symbol of belonging for students through clubs and sports. Sports and clubs allow students to excel themselves through their athletic abilities and their passions. It allows them to not only better themselves as individuals but also to foster a sense of community, teamwork, and leadership.
The yearbook is a very nostalgic item for students to look back on once they’ve graduated. One reason for this is that it’s not digital; instead, it’s a tangible item for alumni to review. In an age surrounded by technology, a physical yearbook represents a cherished tradition. It’s a tradition that both students and alumni associate with their school year fondly.
Junior Sofia Fernandez expressed how she feels about the 23-24 yearbook.
“The yearbook reminds me of all the memories I have made throughout the year and reminds me of all the activities that we had.”
Junior Daniela Salazar shared how she thinks the yearbook impacts the legacy of ILS.
“I think it impacts the legacy because the future generations that come to La Salle can see the mark that was made and use it as inspiration to do the same.”
Reviving this year’s yearbook was especially nostalgic for seniors. It was one of the last yearbooks they’d receive before graduating high school and going off to college. They got to spend time with their friends and have them sign their yearbooks, leaving behind notes that they will cherish for many years to come.
Senior Sunshine Garcia shared her thoughts.
“The yearbook puts all of the 2023-2024 memories together. That’s how I see it. I also like to see all the lovely pictures.”
The yearbook symbolizes much more than just memories and achievements for students. It’s also a symbol of new beginnings for students of all grades. As seniors move on to “the real world” underclassmen take over their legacy left behind.
