Miami drivers are known for their chaotic and unpredictable driving styles. The busy streets and heavy traffic can lead to a driving environment that feels fast-paced or sometimes erratic. Most Miami drivers are used to making quick decisions on the road, creating a sense of urgency and rush, especially for those who are not accustomed to such conditions.
”Drivers outside of Miami are more patient and educated,” said LTV teacher, Mr. Omar Gutierrez.
There are about four common unfavorable driving habits in Miami which include aggressive driving, constant horn usage, frequent lane changing, and taking advantage of any space open.
Aggressive driving is quite of an unfavorable habit because of drivers going way above the speed limit and braking abruptly, increasing the chances of an accident. The overuse of the horn has also caused great displeasure among drivers and in Miami it is frequently used in order to express their frustration or to alert other drivers, causing road rage upon drivers.
Additionally, drivers in Miami often switch lanes frequently and sometimes without turn signals leading to confusion and possibly a crash. Drivers also tend to often try to take advantage of any available space in traffic, which can result in unexpected maneuvers.
However, these are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to problematic driving in Miami.
“Driver ED classes should have commercials so that adults can see how to drive properly. I see people with no signals, and cutting people off regularly,” said Sr. Teresa Gutierrez, FMA.
While driving in Miami can be challenging due to these unfavorable habits, it’s crucial for all drivers to prioritize safety and consideration for others on the road.
“Drivers outside of Miami are very kind, patient, and caring. A crazy thing I see is people crossing the plastic barriers on the express lane,” said main office receptionist Mrs. Marielena Douaihi.
