On the second day of Homecoming Week, the halls were filled with nostalgia as students and faculty dressed as their favorite childhood character or toy. With costumes ranging from beloved cartoon figures like Sponge Bob and Mickey Mouse to classic superheroes like Spider-Man and Super-Man, ILS embraced the theme with enthusiasm.
The day was a vibrant display of creativity, with costumes bringing back childhood memories. It was a delightful way to celebrate the spirit of Homecoming, uniting the school community through shared experiences and cherished childhood memories.
This theme not only offered an opportunity to express ILS creativity to others, but also offered an opportunity to share a piece of everyone’s childhood with others, too. It sparked conversations with people talking about a favorite movie, show, or book from their younger years. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, making it a memorable part of Homecoming Week and strengthening the sense of community within the school.
“I have always found myself loving the Chipmunks franchise and I always related to Theodore in specific because we were both shirt with chubby cheeks,” said sophomore Alessia Cababie.
The theme can also bring a sense of comfort among people because it brings them back to their childhood days, the time in which most people have made the best memories. These memories will no doubt that be told by students, family, and possibly, future family.
“I chose Angelina Ballerina because I watched the show when I was little and I wanted to be something that made me feel personally really girly and feminine. It brought back memories and what it would make me feel like when I watched a show that was so girly and it made me happy to know that I could go back and remember that because it was a lost memory,” said sophomore Isabella Limardo
