ILS celebrated an exciting “Trapped in Time Thursday” during Homecoming Week, sharing school spirit and creativity among all students. For this event, each class showcased their imagination through costumes representing different life stages, transforming the school into a a fun and youthful environment displaying many different ages.
“I think this theme was very fun and exciting,” shared sophomore Marina Wardlaw.
Seniors fully embraced their roles as grandparents, wearing gray wigs, oversized glasses, and classic vintage cardigans. Many carried walking canes around the campus. Their costumes not only brought laughter, but also sparked nostalgic conversations among students and the faculty.
“It was very entertaining to see all the different classes dressed up,” said sophomore Stella Fuentes.
Juniors wore the spirit of college students, wearing sweatshirts featuring university logos, and fun sneakers. This class took the opportunity to express their goals for the future, capturing the excitement and energy associated with college life. Their outfits were a look to the dreams and goals they are beginning to soon see.
Sophomores took a step to their now teenage years, showcasing styles reminiscent of the early 2000s and from today. From low-rise jeans and graphic tees, to sweat pants and hoodies, students expressed their individuality through trendy outfits that reflected both nostalgia and their personal style. This day served as a realistic reflection of their experiences as they experience high school and seek to explore their own identities.
”I really enjoyed this theme it made me feel youthful and spirited,” said sophomore Madison Baker.
Freshmen completed the theme by dressing as babies, wearing onesies, pacifiers, and baby bottles. Their playful costumes brought smiles to the faces of both students and faculty, adding a factor of fun and innocence to the day.
Throughout the school, students shared laughs and took pictures, creating lasting memories of the day’s special event. “Trapped in Time Thursday” was a success, reinforcing youthfulness and excitement within the ILS community. As it built up to the Homecoming football game, students showed the creativity, spirit, and support that make the school truly an amazing and loving community.
