ILS welcomed back a colorful Homecoming Week beginning Monday by kicking off with color wars challenge, where the sophomore class took a win. Tuesday brought everyone back to their childhood, dressing up as favorite childhood characters. Then, on Wednesday was the real highlight of the week, Time Periods. Every class was tasked with dressing up according to a specific time period. Freshmen traveled back a few thousand years wearing prehistoric attire. Sophomores flew to the future with their futuristic outfits. Juniors offered an idea of what it was like sticking to the theme of ancient civilizations. Seniors wore medieval outfits. Of course, the faculty traveled through time in steampunk gear dressed as actual time travelers.
“Seeing everyone showing their school spirit was fun and our classes outfits were really interesting. I loved seeing the skits and thought it was a great day,” said sophomore Sophie Yetming.

Showing ILS school spirit, the four classes gathered in the gym to watch class skits. Congratulations went to the seniors for their win after putting on a show which really incorporated the school motto, Dare to Dream. During lunch, the sophomores had their fundraiser selling some very tasty donuts. Then, day three of Homecoming Week finished off with an after school mini carnival, featuring Kona ice, popcorn, and cotton candy as well.
“The popcorn and the Kona ice at the after school carnival were really good. I was also really happy to have the donuts at lunch,” said sophomore Vittorio Buttice.
The week was continued with class stereotypes on Thursday, green and gold on Friday, and of course, the Homecoming Dance, themed ‘Frozen in Time’ on Saturday. Student Government is to be thanked for an excellent week. Also, everyone is grateful to all the volunteers among student, faculty, and staff for creating a vibrant week of festivities which ideally highlighted school spirit through active participation.
“I enjoyed the carnival after school. I loved dressing up for the whole week, but specifically time periods,” said sophomore Camila Echeverri.
