Every year Signum yearbook editors and staff, in conjunction with Herff-Jones, the photograph/ring/yearbook company, host a Club Photo Day which this year fell Wednesday, November 21, the same day donations of non-perishable food items for the annual Wishbone charitable event were due.
“I enjoy watching the kids we work with during retreats engage in different activities like Ships and Sailors,” said sophomore Maria Alonso of her experience as a member of the Salesian Hearts Club. Maria took a photo with her club on Wednesday.
Club photos are group pictures taken at school to capture the members of various clubs or groups; basically they represent a snapshot of all the students involved in different clubs, showcasing their unity.
Like Maria, sophomore Paul Blanchet was also on hand Wednesday to be photographed with his organization, the Environmental Club.
“I like that on weekends we can go out on the water to pick up garbage and in the mean time are able to experience seeing an interesting variety of birds and fish,” said Paul of his experience as part of the club.
During this day, students gathered in their club’s attire to have their picture taken as a group. Sometimes there are specific instructions about what to wear other than a usual club T-shirt. Specific instruction like, wearing a pink or a white shirt instead could be a way to commemorate the different clubs and their members.
Typically, the day is organized so that each club has a scheduled time slot. The photos are usually taken by professional event photographer and those photos are then used in the yearbook, on the school’s website for that year and often become cherished keepsakes for the students.
Did you miss out this on the yearbook photo this year? While that is too bad, it’s still not too late to join a club.
