For years, it has been a common dilemma for anyone in a relationship during early February to find a good Valentine’s gift. Now, the reader has this beautiful information right here.
“Flowers, chocolates, and a dinner are a trope for a reason—it works,” said Theology teacher Mr. Nick Shaheen.
Although it may seem cheesy, the “basic” February 14th gift works a majority of the time. Even if it is not the most personalized gift, it still shows love for a friend, partner, or family member. Contrary to popular belief, a whopping 80% of ILS boys, according to a recent survey, actually enjoy receiving flowers, chocolates, and a dinner.
Spending time with your significant other builds powerful memories that can last a lifetime and strengthen your bond. Because of this, 45% of ILS boys prefer spending quality time over receiving a gift, 27% like flowers and a date night, 9% want sweets and a date night, 9% are undecided, and 9% want jewelry or accessories.
“I want something that comes from the heart,” said senior Isabella Pacheco.
Making something for your girlfriend or boyfriend is often preferable to buying a mass-produced consumer good at a store. Of course, this is not always the case—40% of ILS girls want something homemade and heartfelt, 40% like sweets and flowers, and 20% prefer a spa day.
For all the lads and ladies out there struggling to find the perfect gift, remember—perfection is a tough goal to reach. Instead, focus on something that is meaningful. Start simple: Ask the intended gift recipient a couple of questions about preferences. It doesn’t have to be a physical item either. How about an experience or an outing? A picnic on the beach, a drive through the Redlands, or even a bike ride in Key Biscayne could make for a memorable celebration of love. Put your heart into it; the rest will fall into place.
