At ILS High School, fall means one thing: football season. As the Royal Lions gear up for another exciting year on the field, energy is rising throughout the school community. From the players and coaches to students and staff, everyone is ready to back the team with pride. Don’t forget to show your support to our Royals this Friday 29 of August 7:00pm at home against Miami Jackson Senior High!
The Royal Lions Football team has been working hard since early summer. Practices are long, intense, and focused. Conditioning, drills, and playbook studies fill their days as coaches guide them toward not just athletic success, but teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
“The game I’m most excited about is Mater Academy because it’s a big game for us,” said junior and football player, Christopher Spikes.
Behind the scenes, the school administration plays a big part in the team’s preparation. Coaches are given the tools they need to train effectively, and players benefit from structured schedules and academic support. The school makes sure athletes stay balanced, prioritizing their education while also competing at a high level.
“I am excited for the game this Friday because we finally get to play again. Before the game I catch the ball before the game with quarterbacks” Expressed Kamari Vasquez a sophomore who plays wide receiver.
One major way Immaculata-La Salle supports the football program is through improved facilities. Over the past year, the school has begun investing in upgraded fields, locker rooms, and athletic resources. While some changes are still in progress, the message is clear: athletics matter here.
And it’s not just about gear and grass—the support runs deeper.
Students across campus are getting hyped about the season. Spirit days, pep rallies, and team-themed events help fuel the excitement. Even students who aren’t usually into sports can be seen wearing school colors and talking about the upcoming games. The football team gives everyone something to rally around.
The cheerleaders are polishing their routines. The band is preparing halftime shows. Teachers even incorporate football into class themes and activities leading up to game days. There’s a sense that the entire school is moving together.
For many high schoolers, football is more than just a sport. It teaches responsibility, hard work, and school pride. Players spend hours practicing after school, juggling academics, and representing the school in front of large crowds. Whether a student is wearing the jersey or cheering in the stands, they’re part of something important.
“I really can’t wait for this Friday’s game because we finally get to play home! Usually because of the intense environment I listen to music and hang out with my team for support. It helps us connect on another level” Said Trayton Jones a sophomore who plays the position corner back when he has to guard the wide receiver.
At Immaculata-La Salle, football is tradition, passion, and community rolled into one. As the Royal Lions prepare to take the field, one thing is clear: the school is behind them every step of the way.
Here’s to a season full of heart, hustle, and Royal pride.
