This new school year at Immaculata-La Salle features many new faces, from the students to the coaches to the faculty. Being a new teacher at a school could be an exciting moment in one’s life, but it could also be very nerve-wracking. Furthermore, new teachers could bring fresh ideas to the school and new tips for working or studying. Lastly, new teachers could be capable of bringing a sense of confidence and trust to a student previous teachers were not able to reach
One new teacher this year is Ms. Elizabeth Adams, the TV Production and Digital STEAM teacher. Before working here at ILS, she previously worked with the Miami Heat as a video producer for the show Inside the Heat. She is also an ILS alumna who is excited to return and share her experiences with her students.
“It feels nice to be back and giving back to the school I went to,” she said.
Ms. Adams is looking forward to sharing her real-world experience with her students
“I want to teach my students about good video production,” she said
Another new teacher is Mr. Alejandro Aguirre, an English Honors teacher for juniors and sophomores. Mr. Aguirre graduated from Boston University with a master’s degree. He believes the school so far has been been very welcoming and a great experience for him.
“La Salle has been very welcoming, and being part of a faculty that is so vested in helping your personal growth as a teacher, it means the world,” he said.
Another new teacher is Ms. Terri Lawson, the TV production and LTV teacher, who is also a Northwestern University graduate. Like the previous teachers mentioned, she is enjoying her time here at ILS.
“I thoroughly enjoy teaching here. The kids are lovely and the staff are very welcoming,” said Ms. Lawson.
New teachers are essential to a school because of their new ideas and passion, and the new teachers this year are proving that importance.
