Every year at ILS, the school faces significant change in faculty and staff. For the 2025-2026 school year, thirteen new teachers were hired. New faces bring new ways of teaching and experiences to the school new teachers bring their knowledge to students from wherever they come. An important thing about new staff is to gather how they feel about the school and how they have adjusted to a new school environment.
Mr. Mark Kendrick, AP U.S History and U.S History Honors teacher explains his adjustments in the new school environment:
Mr. Kendrick admits that he is liking the way things are looking at ILS, particularly the Catholic environment. His main challenge like many teachers is new software apps such as Schoology which has been a huge adjustment for teachers at ILS. An important reminder is that no matter what adjustments must be made, the Salesian mission remains the same.
Sister Sadeh Alnour, new theology teacher for freshmen and a Salesian Sister from Syria, describes her adjustments to life not only in ILS, but in the United States itself:
Technology is very difficult to navigate for people in general, but Sister Sadeh is pursuing it positively with her mind on the Salesian mission for the youth at ILS and love for Jesus Christ and Mary.
Ms. Stephanie Leibert, a former New York City attorney and new Legal Studies Head at ILS, guides her students through the law and seeing it from a neutral perspective after years of experience as a lawyer in one of the biggest cities in the United States.
Ms. Leibert explains her feelings on ILS and the people around her:
Ms. Leibert recently moved down from New York back in March and finds herself extremely welcomed by the staff and students at ILS. She, like many others, faces challenges with the new app Schoology, but knows that the struggle will pass with the help of the welcoming people of ILS.
