Li’l Wayne Releases New Album, “Funeral”
February 7, 2020
Rapper, Li’l Wayne, released his highly anticipated album “Funeral” on January 30th. There has been speculation that this is Wayne’s last album, considering the name is “Funeral,” and he also spoke on twitter aging it might be his last but never confirmed anything.
The album consists of 24 tracks, including “Funeral”, “Mahogany,” “Mama Mia,” “I Do It” (Ft. Big Sean and Lil Baby) “Dreams,” “Stop Playin With Me,” “Clap For Em,” “Bing James” (Ft. Jay Rock), “Not me,” “Trust Nobody” (Ft. Adam Levine), “Know You Know,” “Wild Dogs,” “Harden,” “I Don’t Sleep” (Ft. Takeoff), “Sights and Silencers” (Ft. The-Dream), “Ball Hard” (Ft. Lil Twist), “Get Outta My Head” (ft. XXXTENTACION), “Piano Trap,” “Line Em Up,” “Darkside,” “Never Mind,” “T.O.” (ft. O.T. Genasis) and “Wayne’s World.”
“Funeral” is Li’l Wayne’s 13th studio album.
Li’l Wayne fans have always had to wait for his albums, but it was nice that they didn’t have to wait five years for an album. This time, it was released when it was supposed to. His previous album “Tha Carter V” was delayed for five years with record label issues but finally released in 2018.
“I’ve already dropped Rebirth, so now we’re going to Funeral,” said Li’l Wayne to Complex Magazine in January. The new album, “Funeral,” is supposed to compliment his 2009 album “Rebirth.”
A popular track from the song is “I Do It (ft. Big Sean and Lil Baby).” The song has a catchy hook and Wayne does what he does best and threw a couple of verses on the song.
Li’l Wayne also included a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant on his song Bing James with a 24-second moment of silence at the end of the song. It also is the 8th song on the album. Both of those numbers represent the jersey numbers Kobe wore.
This album relied on features not heavily but the album definitely would not be the same without them. A feature that surprised most people was Adam Levine on “Trust Nobody.” Some features didn’t surprise anybody like 2 Chainz who was the best man at Wayne’s wedding and XXXTENTACION have many collaborations already but this is most likely the last.
Fans hope Lil Wayne is going to continue rapping and not retire but it wouldn’t be too bad because Wayne is already accomplished and could be debated as the best rapper to ever live. Whatever he decides to do fans will be content with his decision.
