The start of the school year has brought more than just new classes and schedules; it has also introduced a brand-new freshmen student government ready to represent their class. With elections held last week, the freshmen class has chosen a group of students who will work to bring school spirit, organize events, and voice the concerns of their peers.
The new freshmen leaders expressed both excitement and responsibility as they begin their roles.
“Being elected feels like a big honor. I want to make sure our grade feels connected when it comes to school spirit,” said the new freshman Director of School Spirit, Mia Jolie.
Faculty members and students from other grade levels also see this as a valuable opportunity for students to grow. The student government moderators shared that the freshmen class has already shown strong enthusiasm and creativity.
“They’ve come in with fresh ideas and a lot of energy. I am excited to see if they can beat us during Hoco week. I doubt they will though,” said sophomore Aspen Hernandez.
One of the first tasks for the new government will be planning events that bring the class closer together. From spirit days to service projects, the freshmen are aiming high.
“We want to show that freshmen can really make a difference. Even though we’re new, we’re here to work hard and represent our grade well,” shared freshman Bianca Kief.
The student body is already looking forward to what the freshmen government will bring this year. Their peers seem eager to support them, noting that leadership at ILS often sets the tone for a strong sense of unity.
As the school year continues, the new student government’s success will depend on teamwork, creativity, and the support of their classmates. If the energy from election week is any sign, the freshmen class is ready to leave their mark.
