This year’s Homecoming theme has been officially announced, and the halls of ILS are buzzing with excitement… and a little debate. The theme? Musicals.
Each grade has been assigned a different musical to celebrate.
-Freshmen will represent Hairspray
-Sophomores will represent Hamilton
-Juniors will represent Mamma Mia
-Seniors will represent Grease
The choice aims to give students a chance to get creative with costumes and celebrate iconic Broadway hits.
The reveal sparked plenty of reactions across campus. Fans of history will certainly enjoy exploring the Founding Fathers via Hamilton, whereas singers of all stripes will get a kick out of recreating scenes from Mamma Mia.
Some students were caught somewhere in the middle, impressed by the creativity but unsure about their own assignments. Senior Massimo Ron is conflicted yet undaunted.
“I think it’s really creative, but I wish we (seniors) would’ve gotten Mamma Mia instead. You can actually dress nice, instead we’re going to have to dress like bikers, and I don’t even know if I have stuff for that.”
Ms. Yvonne Alvarez, Social Studies Chair, is helping coordinate the event.

Whether you love theme or are challenged at the prospect of embracing the challenge, the musical genre promises plenty of opportunities for creativity, school spirit, and of course, a lot of fun. From colorful Hairspray hairdos to rough leather jackets from Grease, it looks like Homecoming 2025 will be very dynamic.
The musical theme sets the stage for a festive Hoco Week as students and faculty all across campus are already brainstorming outfits, decorations, and routines to bring their assigned roles to life.
One thing is clear. This year’s Homecoming will be loud, lively, and unforgettable, just like the Broadway shows which inspired it.
