Football: Our team battled through adversity Friday night and came away with a hard-fought 21–17 win over district opponent Ransom Everglades. It wasn’t our cleanest performance, but when it mattered most, the boys found a way to finish and secure a crucial district victory.
Ransom Everglades put up a strong fight behind quarterback Nate Merrell Jr., who went 13-for-20 for 141 yards and added 94 yards rushing with a 55-yard touchdown run that gave the team the lead late in the 4thquarter. Their ground game was powered by Adrian Cox, who carried the ball 25 times for 142 yards and two scores. The Raiders also found success in the passing game with contributions from Tyrone Williams (6 catches, 72 yards), Kamari Vasquez (3 catches, 36 yards), and Jayvion Robinson (2 catches, 28 yards).
Despite the pressure, our defense held firm on a late goal line fourth quarter stand to give the team the win! Offensively, while we weren’t at our sharpest, the team capitalized on key opportunities and responded when the game was on the line.
At the end of the night, resilience made the difference. The victory moves us forward in district play allowing the opportunity for the first district title since 1976.
Volleyball: The JV Team Lost a thrilling 3-set match: 25–21, 9–25, 10–25 to downtown Doral. Showed strong resilience in the first set and continue to grow in consistency. The Varsity Team Lost 3–2 at home against Downtown Doral in a hard-fought battle (17–25, 27–25, 25–21, 15–25, 9–25).
At the FCS Varsity Tournament: Lost to Coral Reef (21–25, 21–25) and Ferguson (23–25, 23–25). Then they came back and defeated Key West 2–1 and Downtown Doral 2–0 (25–13, 25–23). The team rallied back to finish strong, winning Gold in the Bronze Bracket
