Energy buzzed through the halls of ILS as students prepared for one of the biggest football games in school history — the Nike Rivalry Series matchup against Mater.
ILS was chosen to be one of the eight teams in the country for the Nike River Series. ILS is undefeated 8-0 to Mater’s 7-1. Both teams with impressive seasons built up suspense and hype for this game where over 1500 people were expected to show up to the jungle.
“Make sure to show up to the big game this Friday. The first 1500 people get a free shirt!” as announced during its own segment with people hyping up the player in the background on LTV this past Thursday.
Over 1500 people were expected to show up to this game. Nike themselves was also expected to come. And even more so NFL players were going to this high school game showing how big this game was expected to be.
“Make sure to get your tickets during breakfast and lunch tomorrow for $10 for a free shirt!” was said on the loudspeaker later that day.
“Are you going to the football game today?” was a commonly asked question during the day.
Then, the day of the big game, Friday, there was a huge line to get the tickets to the game. Everyone wanted to get the tickets and the shirt. All through the day you couldn’t walk to class without seeing at least 10 people wearing the shirts. Even during third lunch there was a line to get the football game tickets. Teachers, staff, and many many students were showing their school spirit and excitement for the football team.
