Blessed Sister Maria Troncatti (1883–1969) was an Italian missionary and nurse who devoted her life to helping others. As a member of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco, she provided healing and hope to the Shuar people in Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest. She was known for her bravery, kindness, and strong faith. Sister Maria worked as a nurse, teacher, and peacemaker in the communities she served. Her life of selfless love led to her beatification in 2012. Today, she continues to inspire people around the world.

Since joining ILS, Lauren Beird has learned about the Salesian Sisters and St. John Bosco. She has gained a deeper understanding of their values, mission, and how they inspire students to live with faith, kindness, and service to others.
