As Christmas approaches, the holiday spirit begins to fill the air at ILS. One of the most popular ways for students to get into the holiday mood is by watching Christmas movies. From classics to new releases, these films create a festive atmosphere during a busy, sometimes stressful, time of year, where everyone rushes to finish their assignments before the year ends or gets ready for midterms.
Many students enjoy traditional Christmas movies that focus on family, kindness, and holiday traditions, such as Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life, and The Polar Express. These films remain popular because they are comforting and nostalgic. Watching them has become an annual tradition for many families, making them an important part of the season.
Many students in ILS have different opinions on their favorite Christmas film.
Isabela Dimond, a sophomore in HOSA and SALTT says, “My favorite Christmas movie is Klaus because it is very nostalgic and sweet, reminding me of the Christmas season. I love the animation and I love watching it with friends and family.”
Luca Drago, another sophomore in the ILS volleyball team said, “My favorite is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation because it’s very funny and it gets me in the Christmas spirit. Also I like that it’s not a mainstream’ movie.”
Diego de Terran, a sophomore in the ILS Sailing team says, “My favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone 2 because it reminds me of watching it with my dad and I like the jokes said.”
Others prefer lighter, funnier movies like Elf or The Grinch. These films bring laughter and joy, helping students relax and celebrate the holiday season without worrying about schoolwork or exams.
Whether students choose traditional classics or funny moderns, Christmas movies offer something for everyone. As the holiday season continues, these films offer a simple yet special way for students to celebrate Christmas and enjoy time with family and friends.
