Christmas at ILS has always been about more than just decorations and days off; it is a season defined by the Salesian shared commitment to service and solidarity. This year, the spirit of the holidays was felt deeply through collective efforts to give back, proving that the heart of the school beats strongest when everyone is helping others. From the success of the gift-giving drive for poor children to the collaborative energy seen at the annual Christmas play, the ILS community has demonstrated that the true meaning of the season lies in Royals’ compassion for one another and the world.
How are the students of ILS getting ready for this Christmas season?
For sophomore and basketball star Michael Lopez, Christmas is special. He has been getting ready for the season by watching a Christmas movie every night before he goes to sleep.
“It’s definitely my favorite time of year,” he said. “I’ve been getting into the spirit by watching a Christmas movie every night before I go to sleep and even watching a few with my class.”
Similarly, sophomore and Varsity Baseball player Evan Myrtil has been finding his own way to celebrate.
“I’ve been listening to Christmas tunes in class to really get into the holiday mood,” he shared. “It’s kind of hard to get into the Christmas spirit with the weather being so hot, but the music definitely helps.”
Sophomore Patrick Musi has also felt the holiday cheer spreading through the classrooms as the semester winds down. He noted that the atmosphere has shifted lately, with students finding more ways to connect
“Doing Secret Santa in my classes has made the mood brighter,” Patrick said. “It gives us the joys of sharing and receiving gifts just like Christmas day.”
Whether through individual traditions like watching movies and music, or class activities like Secret Santa, ILS students have found their own ways to welcome the holidays. These moments of joy, combined with the school’s commitment to service, prove that the Christmas spirit is thriving on campus. As the break begins, it’s clear that the heart of the season at ILS is found in everyone celebrates together.
