For many years now Key Club has been an organization that is a student-led service opportunity for high school students and represents a branch of the Kiwanis International, only this time is student-led. Presently, Kiwanis of Little Havana is one of the most prominent in the city of Miami at this time.
Key Club teaches its members leadership through service projects and is entirely non-profit.
Key Club is also an international club around the entire world that ensures help for the community. It stretches from the United States to even countries like the Philippines. The club is divided by countries, zones, and divisions. The goal of Key Club is to help people around the world through food drives, clothing drives, or gifts for children.
A great example of this act of service towards the community was when the Key Clubs of Division 26B of Zone K from Miami high schools attended the December Divisional Council Meeting. At this meeting, the division listens to information from the Lieutenant Governor (LTG) about future Key Club events and from other schools as well as their ideas on what the club could do to help the community. At this event members are asked to bring unwrapped gifts that would at the end of the meeting be wrapped for children who live at shelters with their mothers who have experienced domestic violence. That is an example of the kind and generous offerings of Key Club and the people they help.
Key Club has made an impact on the lives of those it has helped and has also taught important values and lessons to its members.

Other members of the executive board have discovered Key Club as something that has changed their lives. Many project managers have come up with projects to assist people in needy communities.
Junior and Project Manager Nicholas de Izaguirre shares how the club has changed his perspective on life: “Key Club has impacted my life by making me truly grateful for what I have and by making me want to spread my blessings to everyone around me.”
Nicholas’s project collected shoes and distributed it to kids in need. This project, like many others, is student-led, and has taught him humility plusa liking for helping others.
Junior and ILS Key Club Secretary Emma Larralde explains how Key Club has changed her life and the lives of others: “Key Club has benefitted me by improving my communication skills and writing skills, but most importantly it has let me make an impact by helping the community.”
