Here’s your Sunday sports report and upcoming sports schedule.
Girls Basketball: Our Girls Basketball team captured the first Regional Semifinal win in program history with a 62–52 victory over Keys Gate, punching their ticket to the first Regional Final appearance the program has ever seen.
The Royals set the tone early and stayed composed down the stretch, making key plays on both ends of the floor to secure the milestone win.
Leading the way was Alexandra Gonzalez Casar with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Isabella Aversa delivered a dominant all-around performance with 12 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds recording a triple-double in one of the biggest games in program history. Ana Villarreal controlled the paint with 12 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block, while Frida Acevedo added 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists in a strong all-around effort.
A special shoutout goes to our guards Ainoa Haliwa, Viviana Herrera, and Daniela Cardoso who combined for 14 points and 10 rebounds, providing energy, toughness, and timely contributions throughout the game.
This group continues to raise the standard and write a new chapter for our program. The Royals now advance to their first-ever Regional Final with momentum and belief on their side.
Baseball: The Varsity Baseball team showcased their resilience after dropping two tight games week 1 of the season. The team picked up 2 big district wins this week against SLAM Academy and defending state champions Miami Springs HS.
The boys secured their first win of the young season vs SLAM Academy by a final score of 12-3. The team was led by Senior Brandon Nuñez who pitched 4.1 scoreless innings while striking out 8 batters, picking up his first W of the season on the mound.

The boys showed their grit and determination beating Miami Springs HS (the defending state champs) in a thrilling extra innings game by a final score of 3-2. The pitching staff was led by Senior Jonny Quintana who pitched 5 no hit innings, recording his 1st win on the mound while striking out 6 batters in relief of Starter Ozzie Ozon (4 IP 2R 5Ks). The offense was led by seniors Daniel Gonzalez, Jesus Cruz Jr and Jonny Quintana.

This upcoming Wednesday the team will host undefeated True North @ 6:30pm at St Thomas University.
The team will then finish off the week hosting Mater Bay Cutler Bay @ 2:30pm in Tamiami Park Field #2.

Softball: Lady Royals defeated Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Royal Lions put the hurt on the Cyclones with a sharp 20-8 win on Thursday.
Leighton Jamin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off only two hits. Jamin was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Khloe Concepcion was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That’s the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Isabella Steiner, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Track: The track team delivered a strong overall performance on both the boys and girl’s sides, highlighted by multiple event victories and podium finishes.
On the boy’s side, the Royal Lions dominated the 800m, sweeping the top three spots:
Andrew Brito – 1st (2:04.69); Nicolas Figueroa – 2nd (2:09.75); Nicolas Cabezon – 3rd (2:09.82)
Felipe Garcia-Correa added a win in the 1600m (5:11.52), while Pablo Aldecoa captured the 400m hurdles win with the time of 56.85(New School Record). Wendell Copeland contributed key points in the shot put with a 3rd-place finish.
On the girl’s side, Abrielle Meyer led the way, sweeping the 100m (13.26) and 200m (27.07). Andrea Echeverria claimed the 800m title (2:37.41), and Noora Osman placed 3rd in the 400m. The hurdles group impressed with Isabella Studenski winning the 400m hurdles and Siena Garcia placing 2nd in the 100m hurdles. In the throws, Krystal Inhoof was dominant, winning both the Shot Put (9.14m) and Javelin (22.12m), while the team added multiple scoring performances in discus and shot put.
Overall, it was a balanced and competitive team effort as the Royal Lions continue building momentum this season.
Tennis: The tennis team opened the week in strong fashion with impressive performances from both squads.
The girls started things off with a dominant 7–0 victory over Key West High School, showcasing depth and consistency across the lineup. The boys followed with a hard-fought 4–3 win, battling through several tight matches to secure the team victory.
The girls kept the momentum going in their next match, defeating the St. Brendan High School 5–2. The team played with confidence and composure, taking control in key singles and doubles matchups to earn their second win of the week.
With strong early results, both teams continue to build chemistry and confidence as the season progresses.
JV Baseball: The JV Baseball showcased strong execution this week with two hard-fought victories against district opponent Florida Christian Patriots. The team secured a tight 3–2 win in the first matchup behind a dominant pitching performance from Omar Mesa, who threw 6⅔ innings, recorded 20 outs, and struck out 13 batters while allowing just 3 hits and 2 runs.
Top Performers: Omar Mesa 6⅔ IP, 13 K, 3 H, 2 R; Evan Brewster 1 H; Kristofer Perdigon 1 H; Alan Blanco 1 H.
The Royal Lions followed with an explosive offensive performance in the second game, earning an 11–7 victory over Florida Christian. On the mound, Jesus Leandro started and pitched 4 innings, striking out 9 batters while allowing 4 hits and 5 runs. Offensively, Leandro also led the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and three RBI. Jayden Guerrero added two hits and two runs scored, while Alan Blanco contributed two hits.
