After weeks of summer training, conditioning, and preparation, the Immaculata-La Salle football team finally returned to the field for its first game of the season. The Royal Lions opened their season against Barbara Goleman Senior High School with energy and confidence, showing that their hard work during the summer had prepared them for game day.
The team came into the matchup focused and ready to compete. The weeks leading up to the game were important for building chemistry, improving skills, and getting players prepared for the season. Once the game began, ILS quickly showed its strength on both sides of the ball.
The Royal Lions controlled the game and continued to build their lead throughout the night. With the support of students, cheerleaders, and fans in the stands, ILS finished the game with a dominant 49-13 victory over Goleman.
For junior cheerleader Brianna Puglis, being on the sidelines gave her a close look at the team’s first game of the season. “
The energy was really exciting, especially because it was our first game back. Everyone was cheering and supporting the team, and it was great to see all the hard work from summer training come together,” Brianna said.
Junior Alejandro Feria also shared his thoughts on the team’s strong opening performance.
“We came into the game focused and ready to compete. Getting a 49-13 win was a great way to start the season, and I think the team showed that all the work they put in during the summer was worth it,” he said.
From the stands, junior Sofía Gallo experienced the game as a spectator and supporter of the Royal Lions.
“The atmosphere was really fun, and everyone was excited to see the football team back. It was great watching everyone come together and support La Salle, especially after such a big win,” she said.
The 49-13 victory gave the Royal Lions a strong start to their season while bringing students together to support their school. From the players on the field to the cheerleaders on the sidelines and students in the stands, the first game showed that La Salle football is back.
