Here’s your Sunday Sports report from the preseason games this past week.
Football: ILS Royals Football Opens 2026 Campaign with Dominant Preseason Victory
The ILS Royals football team kicked off its 2026 campaign in impressive fashion Friday evening, defeating Barbara Goleman Senior High School, 49–13, in the Kickoff Preseason Classic.
With several young players stepping into key positions this season, the Royals were looking for an opportunity to test themselves against quality competition before the regular season. They got exactly that against the Gators.
Barbara Goleman struck first, taking an early 7–0 lead on a 40-yard touchdown passes off a screen. The Royals quickly answered, scoring 21 unanswered points to take control of the game.
The Gators managed to find the end zone again, cutting the Royals’ lead to 21–13, but that would be their final score of the night. ILS responded with 28 consecutive points to pull away and close out a dominant 49–13 victory.
The win gives the young Royals valuable experience and momentum heading into the regular season. ILS will now turn its attention to the regular-season opener, a showdown on the road against Booker T. Washington.
The 2026 season is officially underway. Go Royals!
Volleyball: The Royals may have dropped both preseason matches at Carrollton, but there were plenty of flashes of the talent, energy, and potential this team brings to the 2026 season!
With a young and exciting group continuing to build chemistry and find their rhythm, the Royals are ready to turn those flashes into something special. The work continues, and we can’t wait to see what this team accomplishes this season!

Wednesday, August 19, 2026: Lady Royal Volleyball travels to American Heritage Plantation. JV 4:30PM Varsity 6:00PM
Golf team kicks off their season vs MAST at Crandon. 3:00PM Tee time.
Thursday, August 20, 2026: Volleyball travels to mater Brickell for a 3:30PM JV and 5:00PM varsity match.
Golf team hosts Westminster Christian for a 3:00PM tee time at Crandon.
Friday, August 21, 2026: Football team travels to Curtis Park for a 3:00PM kickoff vs Booker T. Washington.
