What started as posting videos for fun has turned into something much bigger for 17-year-old TikTok creator Martin Bermu. On his account, @martinbermuu, Bermu has built a following of more than 50,000 people and earned millions of likes by sharing dance videos and other content.
“I’m Martin, and I started posting on TikTok just for fun without really expecting anything from it. As my account started growing, I began getting more attention and opportunities. It’s been really cool seeing something I started casually turn into brand collaborations and a growing platform.”
His videos have reached large audiences, with several posts receiving hundreds of thousands or even millions of views.
Bermu said he has enjoyed making TikToks from the beginning, but he also believed his account had the potential to become popular. A major part of his content is Brazilian dances, something he has been doing since ninth grade.
“As my account has grown, I’ve also noticed that people recognize me differently. Some people come up to me in public, ask if I’m Martin from TikTok, or ask to take pictures with me. People sometimes already have an idea of who I am based on my videos before they actually meet me, which is interesting because social media only shows one side of a person. It has definitely made me more aware of how people see me and how having a platform can influence other people’s perspective of you.”
“I enjoy making TikToks, and I didn’t expect to get famous,” Bermu added.
He explained that he has now chosen to post the Brazilian dances more consistently because he wants to continue growing and build an even bigger following.
His increasing popularity has also caught the attention of clothing brands. Bermu has already worked with Cold Culture, Scuffers and Nude Project, three popular streetwear brands. The companies reached out to him through email or TikTok direct messages and sent him free clothing to feature in his content.
Getting the opportunity to work with known brands has shown Bermu how much his account has grown. These collaborations allow him to promote clothing he actually likes while continuing to make the videos his followers enjoy.
“One quote I live by is, if you want to achieve something you need to be consistent and show up everyday.”
His experience shows how social media can turn a hobby into something more serious. By posting consistently, Bermu has connected with thousands of viewers and started building relationships with brands at only 17.
Even with the growing attention and brand opportunities, Bermu continues to focus on what started everything: enjoying the process of creating videos.
By consistently posting the Brazilian dances he has practiced since ninth grade, Bermu hopes to keep growing his audience and turn his current success into an even larger platform. What began as something he did for fun is quickly becoming the start of his journey as a Miami content creator.
