Volleyball: ROYALS VARSITY RALLY FOR THRILLING FIVE-SET ROAD VICTORY!
The ILS Girls Varsity Volleyball team battled through adversity on the road Thursday night, rallying for a thrilling five-set victory over Don Soffer, 25-18, 23-25, 16-25, 27-25, 15-12.
The Royals came out firing, dominating the opening set 25-18 and looking poised to take control of the match. But Don Soffer responded by taking the next two sets, 25-23 and 25-16, putting the Royals’ backs firmly against the wall.
Facing a must-win fourth set, the Royals found another gear. The team battled point-for-point in a dramatic fourth set before ultimately pulling out a 27-25 victory to force a deciding fifth set.
With momentum on their side, the Royals stayed composed and finished the job. ILS battled through another tight set, closing out the match 15-12 in the fifth and final set to secure the hard-fought road victory.
After dropping two straight sets, the Royals showed tremendous resilience, fighting their way back into the match when they needed it most. The comeback victory is exactly the type of win that can help get this team back on track.

JV Volleyball: The Royals are off to a great start, and they’ve earned every win the hard way.
- American Heritage W, 2-1 (25-18 | 24-26 | 15-9)

- FCS W, 2-1 (23-25 | 25-18 | 20-18)
They also entered in the Florida Christian JV tournament this weekend. The tournament featured some of the top JV programs in the city. The first defeated Doral Academy and then lost to True North in 3 (1-2). They followed that up with 2 close loses. First to Lourdes (24-26 and 20-25) then lost to Gulliver to close out the tournament (22-25 and 20-25).
That puts the JV team with a 4-3 record to start the year!
XC: The girls finished in 17th place, The girls were led by Freshman Guillermina Quinteros set the pace with a 23:57 which was good for 59th place, Junior Myah Taher who finished with 25:44 good for 86th place, and Junior Isabella Abril who ran a personal best 28:03, which was good 117th place out almost 200 runners.
The boys finished in 18th place, the boys were led by Junior Andrew Brito who ran an 18:26 just 2 seconds shy of his personal best that was good for 45th place overall, Junior Benjamin Pieri ran a 19:07, which was good for 61st place overall, and Junior Felipe Garcia 20:40 good 101st place out of close to 200 runners.
Golf: The Royals golf team finished another strong week with some stand out individual performances. The boys team dropped two close matches but continue to work hard and improve.
The girls team stayed hot with their 3rd consecutive win to start 3-0 on the season. Leading the way were Sofia Olarte and Ella Doreste. Freshman Ximena Sahagun and senior Sophia Estrada all contributed to the victory this week.
Next week we host Divine Savior at Crandon. The Royals golf team continues to Raise the Standard!
Football: ROYAL LIONS ROAR to 34-14 Victory!
The Royal Lions put together a dominant performance, defeating the St. John Neumann Celtics 34-14 behind a strong offensive showing and big plays throughout the night.
Jaziel Polanco connected with Tyrone Williams on a 73-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring, before Darrell Godfrey punched in a 5-yard touchdown run to extend the lead. Celtics responded with a 20-yard touchdown pass making the score 14-7. Polanco then struck again, finding Jayvion Robinson for a 47-yard touchdown to give the Royals a 21-7 halftime advantage.
After the Celtics cut into the lead in the third quarter, scoring first making it 14-21. The Royal Lions answered right back as Godfrey scored his second touchdown of the night on a 2-yard run. Godfrey saved his biggest play for last, breaking loose for a 58-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to complete his three-touchdown night.
A complete team effort from start to finish as the Royal Lions improve to 2-0! Next up Miami Edison at Edison 3:30PM.
Offense: Quarterback Jaziel Polanco 9-15 with 158 yards and 2 touchdowns. Darrel Godfrey had 27 rushes for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tyrone Williams had 3 receptions for 76 yards and 1 touchdown. Jayvion Robinson had 2 catches for 54 yards and 1 touchdown.
Defense: Christopher Spikes had 14 total tackles 9 solo and 5 assisted. Jaylen Wilson and Michael Johnson III had 8 tackles while Samonte Blucher had 7 tackles. Khalid Pinkston and Jonathan Monpremire each had a sack. Antwan Jones had an interception in the game as well.

Thursday, September 3, 2026: Volleyball team hosts Palmer Trinity for a 3:30/5PM match in the Lion’s Den!
Golf team hosts Divine Savior for a 3PM match.
Friday, September 4, 2026: Football team travels to Miami Edison for a 3:30PM kick-off.
