Good Morning, Royals!
Hope everyone had an amazing Labor Day weekend! Here’s your sports report and sports schedule.
Swimming: The Swim Team competed at Coral Shores last Wednesday and showed determination, strong sportsmanship, and great team spirit. A special congratulations to our swimmers competing in their first high school meet!
Matias Conde competed in the 50 Free and 100 Free. Luis Armas-Medina competed in the 100 Back and 50 Free. Andrea Gonzalez competed in the 200 Free and 100 Back.
Also recognizing our seniors, who kicked off their final high school swim season with some great performances: Kristen Bachmann – 200 IM: 2:41.55 | 100 Fly: 1:17.96: Emma Larralde – 100 Fly: 1:08.41 | 100 Back: 1:20.18: Sabina Morelli – 100 Free: 1:16.69 | 50 Free: 33.47

Golf: The Royal Lions Golf team finished this week with an impressive win vs Divine Savior. The boys were led by Federico Gil, Connor Heilemann, Quentin Blanchet, and Rodrigo De Lamo who all tied with a score of 42. A solid all-around team performance to secure the victory. The girls were led by Ximena Saharan with a 45 and Sofia Olarte with a 46.
Volleyball: The JV Royals continued their impressive start to the season with another dominant victory, defeating Palmer Trinity in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-11. The Royals controlled the match from start to finish and continue to build momentum with another strong team performance.
Varsity Volleyball came up just short in a hard-fought four-set battle, falling 25-27, 27-29, 25-20, and 22-25. Despite the loss, the Royals showed tremendous fight and proved they can compete with anyone. The first two sets were decided by the narrowest of margins, and just one or two key breaks could have completely changed the outcome of the match. After battling back to win the third set, the Royals continued to fight until the very end.
While the result wasn’t what the team wanted, there were plenty of positives to take away from the match. The Royals continue to grow, compete, and show the resilience that will make them stronger as the season moves forward. Keep working, Royals the best is still ahead!
The JV Royals also impressed against some of the top JV and freshman programs in the state! Competing in one of the premier tournaments of the season, the Royals battled their way to a second-place finish in the Silver Bracket, ultimately ranking 6th out of 32 teams.
The tournament began with another thrilling battle against Lourdes. The Royals gave them everything they could handle in a nail-biting three-set match, falling 25-22, 15-25, and 18-16.
The team responded with several impressive victories against some outstanding programs. The Royals defeated DME in three sets, 25-13, 22-25, and 15-8, before taking down Key West in straight sets, 25-21 and 25-20. They continued their strong run with another dramatic three-set victory over Westminster Christian, winning 25-22, 20-25, and 18-16.
Although the Royals dropped their final match to Doral, their performance throughout the tournament was another strong statement from this talented and resilient group. Finishing 6th out of 32 teams, the JV Royals continue to prove they can compete with anyone!
Freshman team picked up a win this weekend defeating Mater Bay in 2 sets 25-9 and 25-15!
Football: Royals Roll to Another Dominant Victory
The Royal Lions continued their strong start to the season with a dominant 48-6 victory over Miami Edison, improving to 3-0 on the year.
ILS came out firing, jumping to an early 21-0 lead highlighted by a punt return touchdown from Torrence Jones. Miami Edison answered with a kick return touchdown to cut the deficit to 21-6, but the Royals quickly responded. A touchdown reception by Tyrone Williams III pushed the lead to 28-6, and the Royal Lions never looked back.
ILS continued to dominate on both sides of the ball, pulling away for a resounding 48-6 victory.
Now 3-0, the Royals turn their attention to a short week as they prepare for their first district matchup of the season against Gulliver Prep on Thursday night. It’s time to get back to work!

Tuesday, September 8, 2026: Volleyball Team travels to True North for a 5:15/6:00PM match.
Wednesday, September 9, 2026: Golf team is participating in the Wolverine Classic, which is an all-day event.

Thursday, September 10, 2026: Football Team hosts District opponent Gulliver Prep for a 7PM kickoff.
Cross Country has the King of the Hill Race at tropical park. It’s a morning race and the students will return to class after the meet in the afternoon. Will send roster Wednesday day before the meet.
Volleyball team travels to Downtown Doral for a 3/4:30PM match.
Golf hosts Rivera for a 3PM match.
