Las Bandidas Begin Final Year

Senior girls celebrate first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year sporting their colorfully decorated crowns.

The first day of senior year is something the Class of 2027 had been waiting for all summer. For one group of close friends known as Las Bandidas, the morning was more than just the start of another school year. It was the beginning of their final year together before graduation.

“I’ve been waiting for senior year forever, so wearing our crowns together made the first day feel really special,” said Eva Mesa.

Before arriving at school, the girls made their own senior crowns to celebrate the tradition. Each crown was decorated with red and gold glitter, stars, hearts, and personal touches. Some included their names, while others proudly showed “Senior” or “2027.” Even though every crown looked different, they all represented the same excitement about finally becoming seniors.

When the girls arrived at school, they gathered in the parking lot wearing their crowns and school uniforms. They laughed, took pictures, and enjoyed being together before heading inside for their first classes. After years of going to school together, it was hard to believe they had finally reached their last first day of high school.

“It was exciting because we were all together, but it was also weird knowing this was our last first day of high school,” said Mia Casanueva.

For Las Bandidas, the group has become more than just friends who hang out at school. Over the years, they have shared classes, school events, stressful assignments, funny moments, and memories that they will carry with them long after graduation.

The first day brought plenty of excitement, but it also reminded them how quickly senior year will pass. There are still football games, dances, traditions, college applications, and many more memories ahead.

“I’m really excited for everything senior year has coming and just making as many memories as we can before graduation,” said Martina Welch.

As the Class of 2027 begins its final year, Las Bandidas are ready to enjoy every moment. Their senior crowns may only last for one day, but the friendships and memories behind them will last much longer.
