Greetings, ILS family,
Here’s your sports report and sports schedule.
Volleyball: The Royal Lion volleyball team battled all night and came away with a statement victory over Mater Brickell, winning a thrilling five-set battle (22-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17, 15-7)!
After dropping a tough match to the Bulls earlier this season, the Royals came out determined to avenge the loss. They battled through momentum swings, answered every challenge, and dominated the decisive fifth set to secure the victory.
With the win, the Royals carry momentum into the final week of the regular season as they continue to prepare for the district playoffs!
The JV squad had a strong week as well, picking up two wins! The Royals defeated Coral Gables in straight sets before taking down Mater Brickell in three sets to cap off a perfect week.
Both squads are heading into the final week of the regular season with momentum!

Football: The Royal Lions keep on rolling through the regular season, taking down crosstown rival Mater Academy, 13-7, in a wet and rainy battle.
The Royals got on the board first when freshman Jaziel Polanco found the end zone to give La Salle the early lead. Polanco later connected with James Smith on a touchdown pass to extend the Royals’ advantage.
With the rain coming down throughout the night, the Royal Lion defense once again stepped up in a big way. The defense held Mater Academy to just seven points and continued to make the plays necessary to secure another hard-fought victory.
Offense: Jaziel Polanco: 11/21 179 yards 2 touchdowns (1 rushing) – Tyrone Willaims: 5 Receptions 142 yards. – James Smith: 4 receptions 25 yards and 1 touchdown. – Torrance Jones: 13 rushing attempts with 46 yards.
