The 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series ended with the Milwaukee Brewers becoming champions for the first time in franchise history. The Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays four games to one, finishing the series with a 4–1 victory in Game 5 on October 28. The championship was especially important because Milwaukee had never won a World Series before.
Milwaukee also earned home-field advantage after finishing with 103 regular-season wins. The Rays had won 98 games. The Brewers had already beaten the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs, while Tampa Bay advanced after defeating the Yankees and Guardians.
The final game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, the home stadium of the Tampa Bay Rays. Even though the Rays were playing in front of their home fans, the Brewers controlled the game. Milwaukee scored early and kept Tampa Bay from making a comeback. The final out came when Richie Palacios hit a ground ball that was fielded by second baseman Brice Turang, who threw it to first baseman Jake Bauers. After the final out, the Brewers celebrated on the field.
Several players helped Milwaukee reach the championship. Catcher William Contreras was one of the biggest stars and was named World Series Most Valuable Player. He hit .381 during the series and helped lead the team’s pitching staff. Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich, and pitcher Jacob Misiorowski also played important roles. The Rays had strong players too, including Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz, who helped their team reach the World Series.
The championship brought excitement to baseball fans, especially in Milwaukee.
“It was exciting to watch because both teams played hard, but the Brewers really proved they deserved the championship,” junior Noah Broder.
Junior Nicholas Quiroz also shared his thoughts.
“I think William Contreras was one of the best players in the series. He made a big difference for Milwaukee,” he said.
Junior Andrew Brito was also pleased.
“The final game was a great way to end the season. It showed how much teamwork matters in baseball,” he said.
In the end, the Brewers made history by winning their first World Series title. Their victory showed that a team does not need to have the biggest names to become champions. With strong teamwork, talented players, and important performances, Milwaukee finished its season with a championship that its fans will remember for years.
