 On October 14, 2020 the Billboard Music awards were held in Los Angeles California and was hosted by Kelly Clarkson.

This year’s Billboard Music Awards was originally scheduled for April 29, 2020, but was later postponed to October due to the corona virus pandemic. The 2020 were still based on the March 23, 2019 through March 14, 2020 chart period, despite the delay of the ceremony.

This year’s primary voting platform was TikTok. Voting opened on October 1 and closed on October 13. But, nominees were announced on September 22, 2020. Presenters were announced October 13.

“I thought it was so clever that Addison Rae as a presenter because that brings so many more viewers due to the fact that she is one of the biggest influencers today,” said senior Carla Valdano.

TikTok has been a huge hit worldwide so with it being this years sponsor it brought a lot of attention. With that, Addison Rae had the opportunity to be a presenter for the ceremony.

Addison Rae has over 65 million followers on Tiktok and is now one of Tiktok biggest influencers. She started off as a competing dancer and quickly grew through the Tiktok platform.

“The opportunities for success are endless on TikTok,” she said. “It can even help transport a competitive dancer from Louisiana to the Billboard Music Awards stage.”

Throughout the night many other were presenters for this ceremony. In addition many nominees won such as: Post Malone led the pack with 16 total nominations, followed closely by Lil Nas X with 13 nominations, and Billie Eilish who was nominated 12 times for Top Artist and Top New Artist.

The ceremony opened up with a performance opened up with Kelly Clarke and followed by many other through the night including Alicia Keys, Bad Bunny, Brandy, BTS, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, En Vogue, Garth Brooks, John Legend, Kane Brown, Khalid, Luke Combs, Post Malone, Saint Jhn, Sia, Swae Lee and Tyla Yaweh.

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards presented many awards and had great performances through the night.
