The Book of Boba Fett: The Hot New Star Wars Spin-off to Watch

Emma Rodriguez, Writer

The Book of Boba Fett is a TV show series created by Jon Favreau based on the action-filled movie series, Star Wars, taking place after the events of Return of the Jedi. The show centers around bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand as they navigate the Galaxy’s underworld and fight for Jabba the Hutt’s old territory.

In episode one we see Boba Fett escape the sarlac that swallowed him as he is captured by Tuscan Raiders who then take him in and teach him how to fight. Five years later in the present, Boba and Fennec have taken control of Jabba’s criminal empire on Tatooine, including his palace. The episodes that follow switches from the past and the present, and shows the audience the time he was with the Tuscans and the present, as he tries to keep his place on the throne.

The cast says that the series is a great opportunity to explore the character’s past and show what happened to him between the events of Return of the Jedi and the second season of The Mandalorian. Temuera Morrison, who plays the character Boba Fett, focused on Fett’s “simmering kind of violence” and desire for revenge, as well as loneliness, that was caused by watching his father die at a young age.

Jon Favreau’s love for Star Wars and specifically, Return of the Jedi, led Favreau to work and create content for the franchise. His work on the movie’s spin-offs, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett has saved the franchise after recent additions have bombed at the box office. With Favreau’s fresh and artistic eye, he has paved the way for new ways to expand and bring more characters into the spotlight for this series of movies.

If you happened to miss the release, The Book of Boba Fett, first streamed on Disney+ on December 29, 2021, and aired the first three episodes of the series. The show releases new episodes every Wednesday at 12:00 a.m.
