We all know Mr Moises Casado as the cool chemistry teacher who really enjoys hot sauce….on everything, but there is so much more to know him.

Mr. Casado is an incredibly interesting and compelling person, surprising students with his humor and fun, but also showing extreme intelligence in his field. Students love being taught by Mr Casado. Junior Umi Noritake, a student of Mr. Casado, truly appreciates him.

“He really knows how to be open and he makes it a fun environment even when learning chem,” said Noritake.

In a recent interview, Mr. Casado, he opened up about his past, explaining how he became a teacher, and what he did before teaching. 

In 2012, Mr. Casado decided that it was time to grow up. He started to feel like he wanted discipline and stability in his life, knowing that it was time to become more responsible for his future.

He then joined the Marines MOS 0323  RECON MAN PARACHUTE QUAL (NMOS) and served as a trainer for foreign units in the Pacific and Eastern Europe.

“The most liberating thing is that I could travel the world and do something that kept me going,” he said.

Looking back, Mr. Casado believes that going through the training process really got him on a straight path that pushed him to gain a lot self discipline. Since Mr Casado grew up within a Cuban lifestyle, he really appreciated the freedoms of Americans. He is very grateful of the opportunities he got and is very happy it brought him to teaching

“My students are my kids, I love being able to teach them. I’m glad everything I’ve done has brought me here” said Casado.

Mr Casado is also a moderator of the Catalyst club, and an assistant soccer coach to the ILS boys soccer teams.
