As winter sports come around the corner, the boys basketball teams prepare for their upcoming season.

The teams are working extremely hard this year with their daily practices and intense training since the summer. Many things have improved since last year such as the teams communication and chemistry.

“The boys have been working very hard in the weight room as well as on the court. This is the most dedicated team I’ve had at my time at ILS. I except us to compete with whoever we play on a nightly basis and put ourselves in position to win a district title,” said varsity head coach Derrick de la Grana.

Their first game of the season will be on November 26 against Belen at ILS.

Junior Emilio Ramirez says, “ I start the first game of my junior season, and all the hard work that the team and I have been putting in the summer is finally gonna pay off.”

As they look forward to the beginning of the season to play hard and win games, the boys have developed a family like bond on and off the court.

“As a team, we have been playing more together and moving the ball more and just playing harder than last year,” said junior Joshua Fernandez.

Remember to come out on November 26 to cheer on and support our boys basketball teams at the Lions Den!
