Vibra Urbana: Will You Go Next Year?

In 2020, two men by the names of Ian Ruzal-Bron and Kirk Taboada created a music festival based around reggaeton music. Naming it Vibra Urbana, these Miami locals used their love of reggaeton and urge for expansion to initiate what is now known as the largest reggaeton music festival in the United States.

“I like reggaeton. Should I go?” wondered senior Alejandro Esperante.

From nine reggaeton stars to more than 40 acts across three stages, Vibra Urbana continues to grow, and with it so does the Latin music fan base.

“I’ve never gone, but I definitely want to go next year,” said junior Olivia Oguz.

This two-day festival calls people from all over the U.S. who just like Ian and Kirk, love reggaeton.

This festival has become so popular not only because it gives reggaeton lovers and the Hispanic community a music outlet, but also because it has allowed people to explore a genre they love with others, especially since the recent rise of reggaeton took place during a time when festivals were prohibited; COVID.

“I liked it before,” senior Diego Garcia said.

And like him, so did many, but that doesn’t deny the fact that the fan-base boomed during this worldwide pandemic which has definitely impacted the genre as well as the growth of the festival.

Beyond Miami, Vibra Urbana has hosted festivals in Las Vegas, Nevada and Orlando. As of right now, Miami is home base, but definitely not for long. With the genre’s growing popularity and Vibra Urbana’s rising publicity, they are likely to be touring again very soon.  No doubt with all the reggaeton fans out there, it should be a definite hit.

The next time you find yourself listening to reggaeton, think about Vibra Urbana and BUY THOSE TICKETS!
