You may have watched Bad Boys and perhaps also it’s 2 sequels, Bad Boys II and Bad Boys For Life. Starring none other than Will Smith (playing as Mike Lawrey) and Martin Lawrence (playing as Marcus Burnett). The films follow the adventures of two Miami-Dade detectives as they try to find previously confiscated drugs that were stolen from their station headquarters.
The great mix of action, comedy, and chemistry between the main actors is what makes these movies so popular. The first movie, released in 1995, introduced audiences to their dynamic partnership on their journey to take down drug lords . The sequel, Bad Boys II, which debuted in 2003 did not disappoint fans as it continued the high-octane action and hilarious banter between Smith and Lawrence. Then, 17 years later in 2020, Bad Boys for Life brought back Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. In this movie, the two leads face challenges as they team up with a group of young detectives to take down a vengeful drug cartel leader. This movie brought feelings of excitement and nostalgia for fans of the series, which includes senior Royce Adeniken.
“My dad introduced me to the Bad Boys movies when I was around 10. They’ve been some my favorites ever since and when Bad Boys for Life came out, I got to watch it and bond with my dad again. It was really great and brought me back to my childhood. I can’t wait for the new movie this summer,” he said.
That’s right! Bad Boys are coming back yet again with a fourth movie June 7th. Still starring the iconic duo of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, this movie will be titled Bad Boys Ride or Die. Much like its predecessors, this fourth movie is filmed right here in Miami. Audiences will see clips shot in Brickell and other areas around South Florida. In addition, Melanie Liburd will be joining the cast as a mysterious character named Christine; and Eric Dane, who plays Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy and Cal Jacobs in Euphoria is set to play the fourquel’s new villain.
“I’m super excited for the new Bad Boys movie to come out. I loved the first three movies and the characters. I also love Eric Dane because of Grey’s Anatomy,” said junior Sofi Lambert.
