Marvel fans are getting another chance to experience one of the biggest superhero movies ever made. Marvel Studios is bringing Avengers: Endgame back to theaters September 25, 2026, but this time, the movie will include new content that connects to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
“I am such a huge marvel fan, I am so hyped about everything they are doing to prepare for Doomsday,” shared senior Federico Rodriguez. The new version, called Avengers: Endgame: Encore, comes seven years after the original movie was released in 2019. Endgame ended Marvel’s Infinity Saga and brought major changes to some of the MCU’s most famous heroes. Now, Marvel is returning to that story as it prepares audiences for its next major Avengers adventure.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Endgame, are also directing Doomsday. Joe Russo has said that seeing the new version of Endgame will be important before watching the upcoming film. The re-release will feature additional material and an exclusive look at Doomsday, creating a bridge between the two stories.
One of the biggest reasons for excitement surrounding Avengers: Doomsday is the return of Robert Downey, Jr. However, instead of returning as Iron Man, Downey will play the villain, Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom. The film will also bring together characters from different parts of the Marvel universe.
“I have always been a very big Marvel fan. When I heard about this, I knew I had to see it immediately,” shared senior Benicio Mola.
Marvel is also making the re-release a bigger theatrical experience. Endgame: Encore will be shown in IMAX and Infinity Vision, Disney’s premium large-format theater program.
With Endgame returning in September and Avengers: Doomsday arriving December 18, Marvel appears to be connecting its past with its future. For longtime fans, the re-release is more than a chance to rewatch an old favorite—it may contain important clues about what comes next for the Avengers.
