Colleen Hoover’s novel, Verity, finally got turned into a movie, and people have been talking about it. Starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, the movie is about a struggling writer who gets hired to finish a famous author’s book series. While working on it, she discovers some creepy secrets that change everything. The movie is full of mystery, suspense, and crazy twists that keep people guessing.
I went to the local movie theater over the weekend to get some snacks and talk to a few workers who got to watch the movie early. I wanted to find out if it was actually worth all the hype and if people really liked it as much as they said they did.
“The tension in the theater was actually crazy,” said Marcus, a ticket usher who works at the front. “Everyone thought it was just gonna be a basic drama, but during the ending, people were literally gasping out loud. It definitely keeps you guessing the whole time, like nobody expected those twists.” Marcus said that the movie kept everyone interested because they never knew what was going to happen next.
Concessions worker Sarah said the ending had people arguing as they walked out of the theater.
“I have never seen people debate a movie this much after,” Sarah said. “Half the crowd was saying the main girl was totally crazy, but the other half were blaming the husband instead. You really gotta figure out who’s lying yourself.”
Overall, Verity seems like a pretty interesting movie whether you read the book or not. It has creepy secrets, surprising twists, and characters you might not be able to trust. If you like movies that keep you guessing until the end, this one might be worth watching. Just be ready to have a lot of questions afterward for this 4 out of 5 stars film.
