After two years of staring at a screen, the class of 2025 has come face to face. There is no doubt that being a freshman is scary, yet under the circumstances, this year will be one of the most memorable..  COVID-19 did not get the chance to strip the class of 2025 of their first year of high school. The hopeful attitude of the freshmen class has already filled the halls with excitement as they start a new phase in their lives, doing so with smiles behind their masks.

Several freshmen  interviewed share their experiences and hopes. In fact many mentioned that they already feel welcomed by ILS.

“I can already consider this school a home,” said freshman Daniella Coro.

Freshman have had the opportunity to share with the rest of the student body, especially seniors, as they participated in Freshman-Senior Day. They also collaborate in teams, clubs, and activities which helps them feel included. These include the cheer team, LTV, band, photography and more.

“I hope to make it to the soccer team and the track team,” said Eduardo Becerra.

Rashad Lee, who’s on the football team, also has aspirations.  “I hope we win the playoffs and go undefeated,” he said.

The class of 2025 is very ambitious academically as well

“I want to maintain good grades to get into UF,” said Jeremy Agresti.

Grace Blanco also has ambitious academic goals. “I want to get into UCLA,” she said.

As the freshmen start their journey at ILS, many are hopeful, driven, and more than anything, “Enjoying the amazing food,” said Sunshine Garcia.
