Kim Kardashian Guest Starred on SNL

Kim Kardashian made a notable appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) alongside Halsey. Her episode had a surprisingly positive response by fans on social media. Her segments included her monologue, “The People’s Kourt,” “The Dream Guy,” “Costco Meeting,” “Ladies Night Song,” and “Jasmine and Aladdin.”.
Not known for being an actress, she did pretty well considering that she stars in reality television. Her monologue created the most buzz on social media, probably because of her jokes about her actual life. She made a joke about Kris Jenner’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble, being a gold digger. One of the funniest parts was her joke about OJ Simpson, whom her dad was very good friends and represented him in his 1995 murder trial. Kardashian really did a good job of setting the stage for all of her other segments.
In “The People’s Kourt,” both Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian made an appearance. It seemed like it was a play on Judge Judy. Khloe also did a good job of acting, compared to Kris. Kris is iconic, but her acting in this was laughable. However, that’s sort of what made it funny. You could really tell that all three of them were happy and honored to be on the SNL stage.
The next segment, “The Dream Guy,” was based off of romantic reality TV shows, like The Bachelorette. I thought it was hilarious that John Cena and Chris Rock, among many other very famous and iconic actors, were guests on this part of the show. Anyone who watched these types of reality shows would understand why it’s so funny since they are actually as ridiculous as they are portrayed on SNL.
Some of her jokes were a bit more controversial, though. In her monologue, Kardashian’s joke about OJ Simpson being the “first black person” that her father introduced her to, and she also said to “take a stab in the dark” at who it was. This was a reference to his 1995 trial for the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson. Nicole’s sister, Tanya Brown, has come out and said that she thinks that the jokes were inappropriate. She told People Magazine that “Loss, tragedy, murder, crime should not be portrayed as comedy,” Although I thought that the jokes were hilarious, I can understand why her sister would feel that it’s insensitive.
