Christmas is around the corner, one of the most joyous holidays to celebrate. The excitement of spending time with loved ones for the holidays, gifts, and sweets is in the air. Sometimes it’s hard to remember the real importance of Christmas. We can get easily caught up in our wishlists and the material aspects. The real importance of Christmas should be the celebration of God’s love for each and every one of us. God’s love for each and every one is so strong that he came to Earth in human form, so people could experience a personal relationship with Him, trust and understanding in His love for all people and our need for Him. This is definitely worth celebrating! As students of ILS, we should be proud to spread God’s love. When we go home for the holidays, we should take what we learn at ILS about God’s gospel, His kindness and His love, and share it with others.

I asked some students here what they will plan to do on the holidays in order to accomplish this.

“I think that we should remember the community feel that we all have here at school, and we should try and translate that to our local community by being active in it. I’m gonna do this by going to Mass on Christmas,” said Katrina Diaz-Balart, senior.

“I’m gonna go to Mass on Christmas and try to keep in mind my intention for the holiday season which is to make everyone around me feel loved and appreciated,” said senior Mia Castellon.

“This year since all of my family is going to be together, we’re going to share the time we have. I’m going to try to give back to my community by participating in service as well as going to Mass, a celebration that we will share together,” said senior Margaret Coll.

As we celebrate the holidays we should keep this in mind and try to spread the magic of ILS into our communities by giving back.
